Tom Fletcher brings over two decades of experience in institutional asset management to his role as Chief Investment Officer at GenSphere Private Wealth. Known for his strategic insight and steady leadership, Tom led investment teams and clients through multiple market cycles.

His experience in asset allocation includes particularly challenging periods -- the Tech and Telecom busts of the early 2000’s, the Global Financial Crisis of 2008-09, and the COVID-19 shutdown and rebound since 2020. He has been a vocal industry advocate for downside risk management and the inclusion of resources and digital assets in portfolios for improved diversification and returns.

Prior to co-founding GenSphere, Tom served as Managing Director at Russell Investments, where he helped scale a startup division from $2 million to over $30 million in annual revenue.  In this role, he met face to face with Chief Investment Officers and Investment Directors for some of the largest pension funds in the world, bringing derivative capabilities to bear in customized solutions.

His experience spans equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, and commodities -- all focused on building investment capabilities that align with client goals. His personal investment experience also includes private real estate, and Angel investments in early-stage companies.

Tom holds an MBA from the University of Texas and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy. He is also a CFA Charterholder. A former U.S. Navy nuclear submarine officer, Tom brings a unique blend of technical precision and mission-driven leadership to every client relationship.

At GenSphere, Tom is passionate about delivering thoughtful, personalized investment strategies that reflect each client’s values and long-term vision.

Tom grew up near Omaha, Nebraska, yet somehow settled in the Pacific Northwest – it was a long, and indirect path. The first 11 years of marriage to wife, Shirlene, involved a lot of moving around – Norfolk, VA; Oakland, CA; Austin, TX; and Atlanta, GA being the longest stays. Shirlene’s PNW roots were calling her back and we made it happen.

Before his children Patrick and Ally started elementary school, Tom & Shirlene were fortunate to relocate to Gig Harbor, WA. That was in 2003 and it is still home. The Puget Sound area suits most of Tom’s hobbies. Depending on the season, he likes to ski, fish, golf and most other activities that get him outdoors. He has travelled extensively on global business trips and family vacations, but always enjoys coming home to an area that offers so much natural beauty.
